" All about Laughter: humor in contemporary art"
at Mori Art Museum, Tokyo
Installation and Performance
This work was inspired by German superstition that it is good lack to touch a chimney sweep. Chimney sweeps were seen as harbingers of happiness who protected the town from fires, during medieval times.
I performed serious and meaningless sweeping with a huge feather duster and the costume of chimney sweep in contemporary Tokyo. The photo of the performance exhibited with a mannequin which posed as "the bird pose" from the Hollywood movie "The KARATE Kid", and the feather duster.
