Finding Messages in Echigo-Tsumari -10 years plan-
" ECHIGO-TSUMARI ART TRIENNIAL 2000, 2003, 2006 "
2000, Niigata
This is ten years plan for researching the character/charm of the district through a workshop, "the message game ", with children by using telescopes and "hand made watchtower". It started from the last TRIENNIAL, 2000. In the second TRIENNIAL, 2003, I arranged "the message game" in the center of the Tokamachi-city; 10 teams installed themselves at the top of 10 buildings in the area. From a team to another team, a coded message was sent and was received by using telescopes. In the exhibition, I installed a miniature panorama of Tokamachi-city in a room of a building where has command of the center of the city. The installation enabled audience to experience for themselves the exciting workshop.
